HOST Policy Research: The Team
Jill Hall
Jill Hall became a HOST Associate towards the end of 2011 and is based in Herefordshire. She specialises in strategic and business planning, corporate governance, organisational restructure, review, evaluation and business improvement.
As a result of her former career as a senior manager/CEO in Chamber of Commerce and Business Link, Jill has extensive experience in economic development, business support, business consultation and public/private partnerships. Her consultancy assignments over the last 12 years have frequently included employment and skills, worklessness - adults and young people, working in disadvantaged communities and community engagement.
Jill has worked predominantly with local authorities and, until recently, Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) as well as Chambers of Commerce, other employer organisations and some third sector organisations.
The breadth of the LSPs’ remit has involved Jill in a wide range of thematic work with a broad range of partners, so I have some experience in community safety, social care, recreation and leisure and a reasonable understanding of most locally-based public sector organisations - police, fire, health, FE and HE etc.
In terms of business sectors, Jill has a particular interest in tourism/the visitor economy and engineering/manufacturing - her first job after leaving polytechnic was working in and then running a sales office for an Austrian steel importer.
Aside from work, I live and love to walk in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside with my husband, Chris and two rescue dogs, Tom and Keira. Tom and I are just learning dog agility (actually Tom’s really good at it but I need a lot of help!). I’m also involved with our village community shop, for which I’m doing some pro bono work to support a Local Food Lottery application.
