HOST Policy Research: The Team
One of HOST’s most important assets is its Associate Network. These are professional members of HOST’s project teams who also operate as independent researchers outside of HOST. Many organisations work with Associates or Visiting Fellows but HOST differs in that our Associates are treated as members of HOST’s staff. They are involved in business planning and the direction of HOST, contribute to project development, writing proposals and marketing. They are included in HOST’s learning and development plan as part of IIP. There is a part of HOST’s employee development scheme (HOSTESS) that is specifically for them to encourage ongoing learning in a variety of subjects, and there are regular opportunities for developing their skills. Some of them have been with us for a great many years, some are relatively new, have recently completed their induction and are still availing themselves of mentoring support.
All our Associates have been either recommended to us or have been through a rigorous recruitment process and their appointment is subject to their skills and abilities and how they would fit into the ‘HOST mix’. Some are subject specialists, some are generalists, all work to HOST’s professional and ethical standards.
