HOST Policy Research: About Us
HOST was recently a pilot company under the Healthy Workplace Charter run by Horsham District Council. HOST achieved a Silver Award for demonstrating corporate commitment to its staff’s health and wellbeing. HOST is committed to the ongoing learning and development of all staff and Associates and achieved the Investors in People Standard in January 1997 and was successfully re-assessed in January 2000, January 2003, December 2005, and again in February 2009.
Sue
Sibley
Sue joined HOST in 1995 as telephone survey supervisor. Since then Sue has been promoted several times, including working as Personal Assistant to the Managing Director and as manager of HOST’s Survey Unit. In 2005, she was asked to take on the role of Director of Operations. This role involves: co-ordinating all aspects of survey administration, data and processing, and validation within the HOST Survey Unit, dealing with the day-to-day running of the office, general project liaison (overview of milestones, etc), quality control procedures, contract management/administration plus financial issues and ensuring HOST’s legal compliance.
Sue is married with two grown-up boys. She enjoys walking, gardening, pilates, body pump and aqua aerobics plus reading.
Jan
Upton-Cross
Jan currently works as a part-time administration assistant, and has been employed by HOST since 1998, previously working as Personal Assistant to the Director of Research and Development, and part-time book-keeper. She has taken two maternity leaves during that period. Her work is varied and consists of supporting HOST’s Director of Operations through survey support work, production of outputs, correspondence, filing and ECO HOST, HOST’s environmental policy.
Jan is married, with two primary school-aged children. Her interests are gardening, and going for walks with the children.

Paul
Routledge
Paul started his own accountancy practice in 1978 and is Senior Partner at Routledge Taylor based in Horsham, West Sussex. As well as providing HOST with general financial advice, Paul sits on HOST’s Advisory Group which meets twice a year to discuss strategic issues and review HOST business planning where his role as 'devil's advocate' is particularly valued. Outside of work his interests include food, technology and photography and he is a trustee of various local charities including a local school and a nursing home.
Peter
Foster
In addition to being a HOST Associate, Peter supports Dorothy Berry-Lound in the initial preparation of tenders, and provides back-up survey support to Sue Sibley as required.
Graham
Irwin
Graham was commissioned to redesign HOST’s website in 2009 and continues to maintain it. He also works with Sue Sibley and Dorothy Berry-Lound providing project monitoring support and administrative assistance. Since July 2011 he has also been an ISO 27001 internal auditor for HOST. Graham graduated from City University in 1973 with a first class honours degree in Compter Science and has been running his own web design and IT consultancy business since 1990.
Jenny
Trevor
Jenny currently works part-time for HOST as she is semi-retired. For the last 15 years she worked for a large engineering consultancy (and the previous 15 years for a local authority) as a highway lawyer specializing in the legal aspects relating to the maintenance and management of the whole highway and public rights of way network in the UK. She lectured for 10 years, held training courses and advised internal staff and a range of private and public sector clients. She is registered as an expert witness and assisted in a number of public inquiries and court cases each year.
Jenny is married with 2 children, 2 dogs and a grandson. She enjoys playing with clay in her renovated pottery, playing bridge and trying to take control of the weeds in her organic vegetable and fruit garden.
